Responsible for being a lead technical role in team project, leading in the design and development of new and improved fire-rated and non-fire-rated architectural door, window, curtainwall, and related specialty glazing products. Support New Product Engineering deliverables, i.e. supporting business case development, concept generation, design development, design analysis, creating formal documentation, testing and other assigned engineering tasks. Individual will be responsible for design, analysis, development and launch and maintenance and adherence to engineering schedule. The key responsibilities of this position are abilities to translate customer needs into specification, resolve issues related to the design development and work well with team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Possesses and demonstrates strategic knowledge in a specialized field and broad knowledge of several related disciplines within a function.

  • Provides leadership to supervisors and/or direct employees or manages a functional area.

  • Expertise in multiple product families and knowledge of multiple categories.

  • Ensures that engineering processes, quality standards, methods, and procedures are defined, documented and updated as needed.

  • Responsible for the Translation of business requirements to designs and solutions

  • Effective written, verbal and presentations skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts enabling teams to be successful.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, negotiate and work within a team environment cross functionally. Flexibility to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Willingness to make decisions, ability to assess risk and act with a sense of urgency enabling teams to deliver on time. Ability to relate to others, demonstrated resourcefulness and flexibility.

  • Ability to think on your feet, assess problems, and lead others to find well-thought-out solutions.

  • Responsible for managing and completing large complete system projects having strategic platform impact.

  • Provide leadership for cross-functional teams.

  • First point of contact within engineering with external customer. Resolves external customer issues at advanced engineering level. Lead customer presentations.

  • Self-directed. Able to identify and complete own projects.

  • Skilled at customer presentations and communicating and influencing internal customers. Documentation is professional and frequent with virtually all technical work formally captured.

  • Able to apply several engineering concepts and develop/derive new solutions for a specific problem. Able to quickly generate numerous alternative solution paths, and objectively down-select to several technically promising alternatives based on sound reasoning. Frequently requested to give technical assessments of situations outside of their normal scope of influence.

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, engineering science, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.

  • Demonstrated ability providing technical leadership to multi-engineer project teams and cross functional projects.

  • Able to apply several mechanical concepts and develop/derive new solutions for a specific problem. Able to quickly generate numerous alternative solution paths, and objectively down-select to several technically promising alternatives based on sound reasoning.

  • Mastery of engineering tools including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFM/DFA.

  • Knowledge of building codes and performing Underwriters Laboratories (UL) testing and obtaining certification

  • Maintain system compliance with governing agencies and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for the product line

  • Support existing and new distributors and partners; this will include support in the development and maintenance of design and fabrication documentation, UL compliance and maintenance, and technical guidance and training

  • Perform other functions as assigned.


  • An engineering bachelor degree

  • 12+ years of relevant experience
