Position: Commodity Manager – Global Sourced Products

Reporting to: Director – Global Supply Management - APAC

Position Overview

At Allegion we spend over one billion dollars with supplier partners every year, purchasing raw materials, fabricated components, sub-assemblies, finished products, indirect material, professional services and other items needed to support the day to day operations of a S&P 500 Company. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, our Global Supply Management team ensures we have the right supplier partners to support Allegion’s critical business and customer needs.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing all elements of strategic commodity management for your assigned regional and global commodities. This role, while part of the APAC Global Supply Management Staff, will have both regional and global supply chain elements, focused on sourced products. The financial impact of this role includes managing global commodity spend, delivering productivity of at least 4% annually and securing supplier resources to support potential revenue growth of @ 20% per year in sourced products.


  • Develop and execute detailed commodity strategy for assigned product categories / commodities, both regionally and globally, collaborating with key business stakeholders.

  • Conduct or support negotiations, supplier selection and contract management

  • Engage with internal stakeholders from different regions to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and supplier performance.

  • Deliver commodity productivity through price negotiations, consolidation, value analysis (VA) and/or continuous improvement projects. Partner with business leads, engineering, supplier development and logistics.

  • Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation and Fx changes.

  • Identify and execute pipeline of value creation projects within assigned commodities, focused on improving the customer experience, reducing total cost, improving cash flow and generating incremental revenue.

  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and regular supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within commodity.

  • Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk including financial, capacity, quality, and compliance. Responsible for commodity continuity of supply. Engage with plants and Supplier Quality to efficiently resolve escalated issues and formally manage risks.

  • Lead or support project management of key supplier related initiatives such as site relocations, continuity of supply issues, major strategic initiatives.

  • Proactively conduct market analysis/benchmarking, track market trends and emerging technologies. Communicate to key business partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Min. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations ,Business , or related field

  • 7+ years procurement sourcing experience, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience

  • Experience with OEM/ sourced product supply chain, project management and supplier management

  • Strong collaborative skills including experience in international relationships

  • Demonstrate competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors.

  • Professional communication in English language; both verbal and written are required.

  • Ability to travel up to 40%

  • Problem Solving—Identifies/anticipates potential problems, supports root cause analysis, evaluates robustness of corrective action plan and oversees plan implementation.

  • Relationship Management – Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds/maintains relationships with key stakeholders and supplier partners

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels in the organization
