Manufacturing Process Engineer:

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve processes for high volume, precision machining to include hands-on machine and process troubleshooting, tool and fixture design and procurement, and capital equipment management. The engineer must possess strong interpersonal skills and will collaborate with cross functional groups from machine operators to a wide variety of technicians and engineers. Additional duties include applications of lean principles to reduce cycle times and waste, develop and implement standard work, partner with maintenance and operations to develop and improve scheduled and autonomous machine maintenance, and develop and implement quality improvement and safety enhancement projects.

The Manufacturing Engineer will interface with hourly associates, engineers, department leaders, maintenance and controls/automation technicians, quality technicians, tool makers, office associates, etc.

What You Will Do:

  • Partners with all other functions to create a successful work environment that thrives on collaboration and process creation and adherence

  • Function, coach, and create the necessities for a safe work environment

  • Provide engineering support to assigned cells. To include the ability to analyze processes and equipment. Perform root cause analysis and drive equipment reliability and process stability.

  • Implement and maintain process controls through advanced quality planning techniques (FMEA, key characteristics management, mistake proofing, etc.).

  • Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques (workshops, kan ban, visual management, 5S, total productive maintenance, set-up reduction, etc.)

  • Helps define, specify and communicate expectations for quality outcomes through the creation of standard work, quality specifications, and work instructions

  • Ensures engineering solutions meet requirements for safety, cost, time, and quality.

  • Ability to assess risks/issues and make decisions, acting with a sense of urgency,

  • Use formal problem solving techniques to identify and resolve complex problems.

  • Prepare capital project requests and manage their implementation.

  • Assist purchasing and quality Assurance in qualifying new vendors, as needed

  • Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for operations.

  • Develop and/or maintain all process documentation (i.e. routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets, etc.) to ensure accuracy.

  • Analyze proposed changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility.

  • Knowledge and basic skills in Lean Manufacturing and Project Management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects / assignments simultaneously

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical manufacturing

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • BS or MS in Engineering or related field

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience in a machine shop environment

  • Experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment

  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing tools

  • Skills in any metal manufacturing is a plus (Shear, notch, roll, form, welding, etc.)
